Any kind of tripod can be used to mount spotting scopes. But, a special tripod is required for the specialized mounting of astronomical telescopes. Telescopes for astronomy are unlike waterproof and fog proof spotting scopes.
Most such spotting scopes in the Swarovski ATM series have three numbers featured on them. The magnification range is represented by the first two numbers. The last numerical figure represents the diameter of the front lens.
